It is what it is...

A weird calm.  After accidentally losing 95% of a decade of files, actually maybe more, a friend just said to me I seem amazingly calm after accidentally deleting my files. I didn't realise, but I was actually feeling lighter...

So what happened... I bought a new network hard drive yesterday. A raid array, because I would hate to lose any files if a drive became corrupt. I was moving my files from my iCloud folder to my network drive which was sweet. When things are setup on iCloud, the file 'stubs' are stored locally, but when you need to access them, they are downloaded to the local machine and then opened one downloaded.

The same is true for copying. They don't exist locally... Anyway, I wanted to move everything from the iCloud to my network drive as the primary location. The hard drive doesn't have the capacity to hold all the files locally on my machine so I couldn't 'copy them'.  Instead I had to 'move' them.

Anyway the process started and it was going to take 8 hours. No worries...
Then 'ding' it finished in 10 minutes! The iCloud folder on my machine is now empty and the files are over to the network drive... apparently... Nope... just the file stubs are on the network machine for anything significant in size.

Hmmm... Oh well... This might be an example of what happens in life sometimes...

You DON'T get what you ask for... but instead you GET WHAT YOU NEED... And, honestly, as I scrolled through the files that were there and those that were not, my Fiji kitesurfing files were there. Well, most of them...
