Pretty fun day!

Today I had a pretty fun and profound experience. I experienced something like no other!

Last minute decision to enjoy a quick part of the day on the golf course. The one only a few hundred meters from our place and also one that dad used to love to play. It’s a former PGA course and is now pretty quiet.

So, the experience...

I played 9 holes which meant 7 tee shots with a driver and 2 with an iron. Last time I played somewhere was about a month ago. Before that maybe 2 years...

So, today... No practice, no warm up, just me and the ball a s a few kangaroos and dad...

I played this course many times with dad... maybe 40 or 50... He talked me through every tactic, where to approach, how to hit away from the hazards and draw the curves to take the risk, but with a little backup.

So he was in my mind the whole time... Today my gratitude was simply Dad would love to be out here...

I learnt this about 20 years ago with my grand pa. He loved tennis. I would walk out on the court and channel him and think, if he were alive he would love to be out here right now playing tennis.

So today I naturally did that with Dad. I was using his clubs and all of the skills I have came through time with him...

Today stood up on each tee and thought of dad...

Then swung...

Then, every tee shot I would say out loud... “Holy shit dad, great shot!” I would watch the ball go straight and long and up the middle just like dad would have done...

Today I simply watched. Honestly, it wasn’t me. These were the best shots I have ever hit and the most controlled and straightest. The landing zone of the drives were the spots you hope for of...

After a while I started taking photos of them... I was the observer...
It wasn’t me, I was literally swinging and afterward saying “far out great shot dad”!

It was a very weird physical experience and I have never hit shots like that before, but what I watched was the exact flight path that would have come off dads club...

It was dads favourite course and yep, I think I’ve found a way to continue to share that experience with him.l between worlds... All good fun...
