Keeping the human connection...

The non medical things masks do... It is good to understand to help you process these as they enter your mind and how we need to keep our mental health and human connection...

  • They spread FEAR... there is something I need to be protected from... they give back a little safety, but I’m ok...
  • They DISCONNECT humans... you are not only looking at peoples eyes. Enter a group of mask wearers and you feel different towards other humans
  • They SUPPRESS VOCAL communication... how many people just don’t communicate as much because you either can’t understand someone or can’t speak clearly enough... so you talk or listen less
  • They SUPPRESS VISUAL communication... you cannot see other people’s expressions and have insights to what people are thinking or communicating... even when not talking
  • The create a REDUCES HAPPINESS... we all know that smiles are contagious... not seeing people’s mouth and smile creates a low vibe situation
  • They DIVIDE people... mask wearers and non mask wearers, with no discussion of reasons either medical or accidental
Just a few I can think of..

So, a few thoughts of what can we do to save our mental health:

  1. If you wear a mask, also wear a smile underneath... your eyes will communicate a part of your happiness
  2. When you see people with or without masks don’t judge... we are all humans...
  3. Wear some other fun clothes, brighten the mood somehow!
  4. Put in the extra effort to communicate and listen... the beauty of humanity is in is interacting with each other
  5. Choose to wear a mask, do not do it because you are told...
  6. Maybe invest in a fun happy coloured mask, to spread some joy... or add a fun hat or beanie to the mix
  7. Identify the fear, but do not let it control you... was that a fear response... was that anxiety... what was the root of that...

Replace any fear with this mantra... I am safe, I am happy, I am loved... Say it over and over until you feel the change.
