Can someone define "highly contagious" to me?
Apr 01, 2021Can someone please define "highly contagious" to me... Because I thought it meant that there is a high chance of catching what someone has...
Can we look at some real numbers of 'in the vicinity of a contagious person and the chance of catching it'...because...
Australia is in a unique situation... Queensland in this case... Wee only have a 'few' known community cases... when when found go into quarantine... The other cases are in quarantine... from international arrivals...
So we get to really see what contagious means... We get to track one case, like maybe only a few other countries can actually do... Super rare data really... The people who had, not knowing and highly contagious were out in the community for a week or so...
And these people were having a fun time... I'll paraphrase, it is along these lines, Hen's night, one was a stripper, cafe's restaurants, shops etc... Having a normal time...
So, everyone who was in those locations were tested... 60,70 thousand people tested in the last 2,3 days...
The result... a handful of 'cases'...
So, I would love to know the stats of how many people were in contact in those locations and the surfaces they touched...
I would love to know how many of those people tested positive... Because out of 70,000 people tested... 3,4,5 people is not a big number to classify as contagious... Or is it?
Maybe it is... maybe this is what highly contagious means? Then is the flu the same or just contagious?
Maybe we have different situations here in Oz... people further apart, less dense public transport, summer season... Dunno....
Or Just tell us that aliens are coming to visit us and they don't want too many people to see them land so it is best that everyone stays inside... Honestly that makes more sense to me...
